Financial Records Vault
— Keep Consultation Notes in an Encrypted File
Organize consultation conditions, questions to ask and checklists, and save them as an encrypted vault file on your computer. How to open, save and move the file to another device.
When to use it
Use it when you want to keep the rates, fees and renewal dates you heard in a consultation, along with the points to ask again, in one place. It is not a tool that judges which product is better; it helps you record the conditions to check before signing.
Getting started and saving
- At first you can explore the screen with a sample record. Using a real vault file requires signing in as a member.
- Create a file with New vault, or open an existing .convofin file with Open file. Enter the password the screen asks for.
- Organize the product, conditions, notes, checklist and timeline. Do not record sensitive information or the full text of financial documents.
- After making changes, press Save to my computer to keep the encrypted file. Check the save status before closing the window.
- When you are finished, use Close. To continue on another device, move the saved file there safely and open it again.
Personal data and how it is stored
The contents of your financial records are not stored on the server; they are kept in an encrypted file that you hold. Member sign-in and the password that opens the file serve different purposes. Take care not to lose the file or the password, and on shared devices check whether downloaded files remain.
If you have records saved in the browser by an earlier version, follow the import instructions on screen. Check the imported content in the new file and save it before deleting the old records. For how files are kept, check both the Privacy Policy and the instructions on screen.
An example of what to record
After a (hypothetical) consultation, rather than writing only “rate 4%”, write your next actions: “check whether it is a variable rate”, “ask how long the bonus-rate conditions must be kept”, “check when the early repayment fee period ends”. To compare different conditions, use the loan repayment calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Q. If I sign in, will my records appear on another computer automatically?
A. Financial record contents are not synced through the server. You need to move the saved vault file to the other device and open it.
Q. I edited a record, but the next time I open it the old content is there.
A. Check that you saved the changed vault to a file and that you opened the most recently saved file. Check the save status on screen before you finish.
Q. If I forget my password, can the team recover the content?
A. The team does not keep the contents of your financial records. You must keep the file and password safe yourself.
Q. Can I link analysis results to a record?
A. Use the Financial Records link in the analysis screens to pass along the risk & caution summary and checklist. It requires member sign-in, and do not copy the full original text or sensitive information into your notes.
Q. What is worth writing down?
A. Note the consultation date, product name, conditions you checked, questions to ask and a pre-contract checklist. Look up unfamiliar terms in the financial glossary (Korean) and write them in your own words so they are easy to reread.
